If you are new to this community, please contact me and introduce yourself. I would love to get to know some information about you and your shop. You can introduce yourself through my Contact Page, or you can send me an email. I’m looking forward to hearing from you!
My name is Rachel, and I opened my first handmade shop on Etsy in January 2014. At the time, my husband Brandon and I had moved out of our apartment and in with my parents in order to save money to purchase our first home. I love my parents and everything, but I decided to open the shop in order to make a little extra money on the side and expedite the savings process. My dad had some basic power tools, so I figured that making something wooden would be a good start. The only problem is that I knew very little about power tools and woodworking, and Brandon knew even less (I was amazed that was even possible). Brandon and I were both employed full time, so we worked on our shop on nights & weekends. The shop was my idea and brainchild, but I still used Brandon for the grunt work.
A few months after opening my shop, I found out I was pregnant with my first child. I increased free marketing and manufacturing because I knew that the baby countdown timer was ticking and it wasn’t going to slow down. I mastered Etsy SEO and our sales exploded.
We purchased our house in Tulsa, and our son was born in January 2015. We decided that it would be best if I focused on staying home with our son and managing my Etsy business; I never returned to my day job. I was making more from my Etsy shop than my day job anyway, so it was a smooth transition financially. I started helping my friends set up successful Etsy shops in my spare time, and I loved it!
I decided to create this community to serve as a free resource for handmade business owners. It doesn’t matter if you are just starting out or have an established business; we can all grow together. I learned several important methods that helped my revenue explode, and I want to share them to others for free. I had to learn a lot of lessons the hard way, and I’d love to help you avoid them. Feel free to contact me with any questions or if you would like to see specific information included on My Handmade Hub.
Let’s grow together!
Help Support This Business
I have decided not to include any advertisements as I am starting to build this site. In the future, I will most likely be adding Etsy advertisements for quality stores that I support. Until that time, I would love for you to contribute to this site by adding comments or questions. If you become an active member of this community, it will help it grow and thrive!
Now that you know more about me and my family, it’s time to get started. I have included some good posts to visit below. Hopefully, this will help you discover a place to begin.
